Wow. This book.

Crime and Punishment. What an adventure that book is. 500+ pages of symbolism and crazy life choices. The Epilogue made it worth the read, though. Here's a quote we must discuss from the Epilogue:

"But it was not his shaven head and his fetters he was ashamed of: his pride had been stung to the quick. It was wounded pride that made him ill" (Dostoevsky 511).

We need to discuss this quote because I personally think it is a pivotal point in Raskolnikov's development. He has finally admitted that his pride is bruised. The admittance of this fact will shape the way he is redeemed. I think we should discuss his journey of prideful character development and how his pride has shaped his life. We should also discuss Sonya's role in the breaking down of his pride. Does it take the crushing of his pride for him to realize how much he needs and truly loves Sonya?? Let's talk about that.
